Melody Makers

    About Us

Melody Makers is a team of students from Saguaro High School dedicated to spreading their passions for STEM and music. We are engineers, coders, pianists, and problem-solvers.

    Melody Makes' Beginnings

    How Melody Makers was started.

During the 2023-2024 school year at Saguaro High School, 2 senior students were attempting to find a unique method to improve STEM. They realized that while STEAM has helped STEM include the arts, it still wasn't enough. That is when they decided to use the "A" in STEAM to their advantage; by teaching elementary school students how the arts contribute to the STEAM curriculum, primarily through music. Thus, Melody Makers was born, as well as a new era in the world of STEAM that emphasized the arts and how important they were.

    Who We Are

Who Melody Makers and the team behind it are, and what our missions and goals are.

    Who We Are

The team behind Melody Makers, including our founders and previous leaders, all had a different way to achieve their missions and goals for Melody Makers. However, the one thing they all had in common was the desire to spread STEM to children through the usage of music, arts, and other STEAM activities. Our passion for music, arts, and STEAM, supported by Saguaro's Math and Science Academy, Scottsdale Unified School District leaders, and experienced mentors, allow us to create a change in the communities we serve. STEAM is a key part of our societies and communities all across the world, which is why we find teaching STEAM through the arts very important, as it is engaging for students and teaches them useful real world skills that could help them change the world for the better one day.

    What We Do

What we do, and what we're currently working on.

Currently, we primarily go to elementary schools to teach young students about how things they use or see everyday, such as AI, plays an important part in the arts and other STEAM-related activities. We also host our own booth at the popular "Sisters in STEM" annual event, as we recognize that women are often the minority in STEAM-related careers, despite how important they are (and have been in the past) to STEAM innovation! We also actively post educational content for students on our social media accounts and host lessons on our own website. Melody Makers also has a passion for developing tools that allow students to play around with music and learn, such as our wave widget. If you have any ideas on how we can continue to innovate, feel free to reach out to us!

    What We Do

Why We Do What We Do

There are many reasons for what we do, which we do our best to be transparent of, so then we can work together to achieve our mission.

Why We Do What We Do

As "Sisters in STEM" has said and emphasizes, our events and lessons are hosted by students for students. Despite STEAM providing high-paying jobs and being necessary for our societies to continue to function, we still find that there are often plenty of STEAM jobs out there waiting to be filled by workers. With our lessons and initiatives, we hope to change that by giving students a reason to be passionate about STEAM, and therefore pursure a career in it.
